A B1 level of language knowledge is required.

Contents

Topics of the module include:
reading comprehension both of technical and common texts ; conversation and explanation in English of general topics taken from everyday life; how to write a summary and an essay; how to write informal/formal emails and a C.V.
Learning Outcomes.
On successful completion of this module, the students should
1. be able to read and understand technical/non technical texts;
2. be able to understand a conversation and summarise the content both in oral and written way;
3. be able to express simple and rather complex concepts;
4. be able to write a C.V., short essays and emails to get information or apply for a job.

Assessment methods

The Course is structured on 1 module with two written tests:
1) an Entrance Test at the beginning to verify the students’ base preparation;
2) a Final Test at the end of the Course with exercises aiming at verifying the students’ knowledge of the general/technical English vocabulary acquired during the Course, and with the written production of an essay or formal letter. If passed, there will be an oral Test consisting in a short conversation related to their immediate environment and choice of future career. In the end, they will be given photos to describe and compare with the possibility to express their own opinions and ideas.
